Its not a privacy concern, its a concern about IndieWeb's stated goals and their actions which go directly against it.

mmm, fair ig. idk compromising here seems ok? is kinda similar to posse things i think. also like, it keeps the chat more approachable for new community members. same reason we don't use dev words in #indieweb, to avoid scaring new people off.
